WOMEN'S FELLOWSHIP NEWS

Autumn flowersOn Saturday 18th April 2007 our church, through Women's Network, was invited to join with members of other women's organisations to celebrate the 75th Anniversary of Women's World Day of Prayer in England at City Hall.

Barbara Southgate, and perhaps others, represented the circuit, also Park Lane members Anita, Hyacinth, Ivy and myself, and set off for the service and celebration with warm-up at 12.45pm.

We were entertained with the creative arts including a young dance troupe, followed by a very varied service. We met with some of the congregation in the gardens nearby, and some of them came from various far-reaching distances by train and coach or whatever transport available.

When we returned we attended the Circuit Missionary Supper/Easter Offering Dedication Service at Ealing Road Church. Enjoying, so to speak, two for the price of one.

Praise & Thanksgiving

Praise is most frequently used with regard to praise rendered to God. Praise used as the verb is frequently changed to mean bless, give thanks.

To enter God's presence with praise and thanksgiving reveals our spiritual condition. Matthew 12:34 tells us that out of the heart the mouth speaks. Your praising lips are your words of the heart. Where God is present He comes to rule and reign. We ask Him to tabernacle with us, to pitch His tent with us. If we invite God into our families, our church, our communities, He will.

Praise reinforces our relationship with God. Praise and thanksgiving remind us who we really are and who God is. Praise is the fulfilment and joy in praising God.

The Jews knew that music and praise and thanksgiving were the key to success, so they used the shobar, a sacred musical instrument, before and after battle. Praise the Lord with the shobar, blow the trumpet in Zion.

In Psalm 100:4 David tells us "Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His courts with praise: be thankful unto Him and bless His name."

At this time of the year when we celebrate Harvest let us give praise and thanks for all the good gifts sent from the Father above.
